Clarity "Clare" Fern sees things. Things no one else can see. Things like stolen kisses and long-buried secrets. All she has to do is touch a certain object, and the visions come to her. It''s a gift. And a curse. When a teenage girl is found murdered, Clare''s ex-boyfriend wants her to help solve the case-but Clare is still furious at the cheating jerk. Then Clare''s brother, who has supernatural gifts of his own, becomes the prime suspect, and Clare can no longer look away. Teaming up with Gabriel, the smoldering son of the new detective, Clare must venture into the depths of fear, revenge, and lust in order to track the killer. But will her sight fail her just when she needs it most?
The mystery in the novel was crazy! Within the first few pages, there is a preface that is super intense and it keeps you guessing the whole time. At one point, you'd think "Okay that's the killer" and then you find it you completely missed the boat.
I liked Clare's narration. She was refreshing and had a great sense of humour even though there was nothing funny about her situation. Her snarky comments were an added bonus.
And there are boys. Many of them actually. Clare is surrounded by them, although some of them you may find creepy, sweet, brotherly or just plain hot, there is no shortage of XY chromosomes. And you'll definetly find yourself caught in the middle between two boys in particular: Gabriel and Justin. *swoon* (Despite Justin being one of the coolest and sweetest characters, I was rooting for Gabriel.)
Talking about characters, I loved every single one of them, even though some of them were crazy wiatches. The best thing about Clare is her loyalty to her family, which I admired. BUT her hard headedness was quite a disappointment. I suppose not every character can be as perfect as you want them to be though. The ending of the novel wasn't exactly a cliff hanger, but it did leave much to the imagination and left me wanting more.
Clarity is a dark and suspensful YA mystery book that you'll find hard to put down. Kim Harrington's debut novel definetly is a knockout! My hands were glued to the book! I can't wait for the sequel, Perception which is due in March 2012 from Scholastic/Point.
It's not often that I do this, but I'm going to give Clarity by Kim Harrington The Platinum Moody Seal of Approval. It was just that good!

Asma's review:
I picked up Clarity thinking it would be a simple read but little did I know that it was creating major buzz around the YA book world. And I completely understand why. Clarity was extremely well written, had a great plot, it was humorous and it had a great mystery. The mystery in the novel was crazy! Within the first few pages, there is a preface that is super intense and it keeps you guessing the whole time. At one point, you'd think "Okay that's the killer" and then you find it you completely missed the boat.
