The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin

Mara Dyer doesn't think life can get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there.
It can.
She believes there must be more to the accident she can't remember that killed her friends and left her mysteriously unharmed.
There is.
She doesn't believe that after everything she's been through, she can fall in love.
She's wrong.

I actually enjoyed the novel very much.  Michelle Hodkin's writing was swift and the plot was unheard of (for me at least) until now.  Mara's sarcastic narration was a fun way to get to know her and her surroundings.  It was easy to follow and humorous, exactly how a YA novel should be.  I loved reading the book all the way up until the end, and even then I was hoping for more. The characters were great and can we mention the stunning cover, please?

The other reviews I usually read were either  bashing the novel for the lack of a concrete ending or praising it for it's beautiful writing.  Obviously, I have chosen the latter.  The idea of a sequel makes me giddy, and I simply cannot wait!

I say, try the book out.  I loved it, and I'm sure you will too!  Gold for the Unbecoming of Mara Dyer!
