#FF: No excuses, I'm lame

Tell us about a book that you didn’t like and why we shouldn’t read it (as nicely and respectfully as possible)

I'll go with the first book that came to mind: Liar by Justine Larbalestier.

This book just had way too many, you guessed it, Lies for me to get down with it. It might be because I was pretty young when I read it, so maybe I didn't really "get" it. But I remember having very strong negative feelings about this book, so that's what I'll go with.

Props to having a woman of colour as the lead character, however! We don't see enough representation in YA...or..well..in anything, really.

I haven't been much of a book blog lately, or much of a blog in general really. But I'm excited to be finished with my first year of uni and get on with the things I actually like doing, like running this site.

Feature Follow: Throwback

If you could read a book for the “first time” again, which book would it be? Why?

Erp.

Ugh.

See, my answer would have been any of my favourite books from middle school because I honestly think thats the age I had the most fun, as a reader.

Then I remembered I am no longer 13 years old with an underdeveloped vocabulary (well...).

I immediately thought about "The Perks of Being A Wallflower" but then I realized that book is my "go-to" book for everything. I've probably mentioned it about eight thousand time on this blog, but hey, whose counting!

I also thought about Vampire Academy because despite the overdone title, its one hell of a series. Its a great adventure with lots of passion. However, Im no longer in middle school so that opinion could change

Anyways, I would throw Perks in there...but honestly, any book that I loved could do the trick.

I don't celebrate Christmas...and I haven't gotten any books this week. I am currently reading The Girl With The Great Personality though.

Feature Follow #The Embarrassing One

I hate to be the blogger with two back to back Feature Follow posts, but alas, exams are upon us.  My review for Allegiant will be up in less than 24 hours though!

Tell us at least one new or unusual thing you’ve done in 2013.

Oh God its a personal question argh. Um well... *Jeapordy theme starts to play* Honest to God can't think of something unusual I would want to share online. I'm also finding it hard to think of anything past this Tuesday. 

Oh - wait, it's all coming back to me now.

1. Well everything in 2013 was rather new: I got a new job, graduated from high school *cries*, moved out of my childhood home to the middle of butt frick nowhere, I gave the speech at commencement and improvised hosting prom, all of my sisters moved out (leaving me alone), and my Grandmother moved in with us. So um...2013 was a big year.

But one unusual thing I did is this:

My local library was having a Teen Tech contest and I heard about it the day before the deadline so I got my friends together and we shot some stuff that eventually turned into these videos. I didn't win (the guy who had one the previous year submitted a name under a different name *side eyes*) but I was proud of some of my work.  

Ahh I cringe whenever I rewatch these videos, can't believe I'm showing them to you guys lol

What’s your favorite Thanksgiving Day food? If you’re not American or Canadian, what is your favorite holiday food?

Well, I am Canadian though my family has never taken up the tradition of Thanksgiving. I don't really mind too much, there are enough tv specials to let me know about what I'm missing.  And in all honesty, the backstory behind thanksgiving has always left a sour taste in my mouth. To each their own! In all honesty, I don't think I celebrate many wide-spread holidays so thinking of holiday food is a weird concept for me. I do love pumpkin pie? But I'm 90% sure no one else will pick...Halloween candy! Its food. I celebrate the holiday! Love trading and snacking on it during those november days.

What book are you embarrassed to admit you LOVED? (try to think beyond Twilight)

Hahaha! WHAT? I didn't LOVE Twilight *nervous laughter* haha no no give me more credit than that. Ahem.

Anyways, I classify embarrassing books in three categories. There are the books that have embarrassing titles, but are phenomenally written:

• Anna & The French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
• Lola & The Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins

And then there are the books that kind of kill my credibility:

• Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles
• Rules Of Attraction by Simone Elkeles
• The Vampire Stalker by Alison Van Diepen

And then there are the ones that are just too young for me:

• Malice & Havoc by Chris Wooding

But at the end of the day, I just really liked these books. To broaden the spectrum, in grade 10, I read ahead in Romeo & Juliet because I loved it so much (can still recite certain lines by heart) despite everyone bashing the fact that it was a love story between a 16 and 13 year old (it's not the same, they were basically considered adults by then! IT WAS A DIFFERENT TIME!) where everyone dies at the end, its one of my favourite Shakespeare plays. Actually, it's my favourite Shakespeare play I've read (so far!)
