What does it mean to be extraordinary? Phoebe finds herself drawn to Mallory, the strange and secretive new kid in school. Soon the two girls are as close as sisters . . . until Mallory’s magnetic older brother, Ryland, appears. Ryland has an immediate, exciting hold on Phoebe—but a dangerous hold, for she begins to question her feelings about her best friend and, worse, about herself.
Soon she’ll discover the shocking, fantastical truth about Ryland and Mallory, and about an age-old debt they expect Phoebe to pay. Will she be strong enough to resist? Will she be special enough to save herself?

First thing, the cover of this book is gorgeous.
Moving on.

The begining of the novel was great, Phoebe is a good protagonist, and Nancy Werlin's writing was fabulous. The story unfolded very slowly with grace and brilliant writing.  It wasn't until Ryland, Phoebe's love interest, and Mallory's brother entered the pictre.  But once Ryland showed up, Phoebe's character took a complete 180.  She became pretty annoying when it came to him, she was immature and bratty which kind of made me get tired of the book.  I'm sure I'm not the only person who read this book that despised Ryalnd, because of his manipulative attitude and not to mention his douchebaggery.

Although Phoebe became an annoying character, she definetly matured and restored my previous liking to her.  She had been a very shy girl, especially when she was next to Mallory, but she evolved into a character than finally began to stand up for herself.  But I do have to say that I had a tough time sympathizing with her.  I have to say that Mallory was my favorite character throughout the book.  She was truly interesting to read about and I enjoyed her presence, even when Phoebe was having a rough time with it.  Another character that caught my interest was Benjamin, he was Phoebe's good friend and put everything into perspective for her.  I would have liked to see more of him though.

For people who read this book, its either a hit or a miss.  You will either think it was a solid read that was beautifully written, which is true, or you will find the book to be so so because of the slow progression of the book and its annoying characters.  I was in the middle of this.  I thought the book was extremely well written, it had a solid storyline, that took some time for it to present itself to the reader, but I had a hard time connecting to the characters.

That's why I would say  this book was...okay.  It didn't knock me out of the park, and if there were a sequel I probably wouldn't bother reading it but I know that this book really did captivate so many readers.  Which is the reason I am going to give Extraordinary by Nancy Werlin the Silver Moody Seal of Approval.  It was extremely well written, but I just couldn't enjoy it as much as I shoul have.
