Confessions of a Triple Shot Betty by Jody Gehrman

Geena can't wait to spend summer vacation with her two best girls: her friend Amber and her cousin Hero. All three are working at the Triple Shot Betty coffee shop together, but the moment Amber and Hero meet, the claws come out. They hate each other on sight. Geena's dreams of a girl-bonding summer fly out the window, and then threaten to disappear completely when a few cute (okay, drop-dead gorgeous) guys come along to woo the Bettys. But all is not what it seems, and in a story of mistaken identities, crazy summer high jinks, and enough romance to make Shakespeare proud, Geena and her friends learn that when Bettys unite, they can take on the most powerful force in their world: a hot guy.

This is a Summer book, which is why I read it in the middle of Whinter.  I suppose I needed a little pick me up, which is exactly what the book did.

Confessions of a Triple Shot Betty is hilarious, witty and extremely relateable.  It revolves around classic modern day girl issues. I don't think there's really a bad thing I can say about this book.  The dialogue was lol-inducing, the characters were also lol-inducing but also very well developped and the plot was a modern and witty.  Not only is it the perfect Summer book, but it's also the perfect pick me up when you're in Canada and smack in the middle of whinter (wain).

While reading this book, I couldn't help but compare it to Sydney Salter's Swoon At Your Own Risk (in a good way), which is a fantastic summer read I reviewed when there wasn't cold white stuff falling from the sky.  They both have strong female protagonists that come into their own throughout the novel.

Jody Gehrman's writing style was wonderful!  I'd love to read any of her other books if they're as fantastic as Confessions of a Triple Shot Betty.  I loved the fact that the book is actually Geena's confessions.  It's her diary!

Confessions of a Triple Shot Betty is not to be missed, whether you're counting down the days until Summer or loving the whinter cold (...?), it's a book for any time of year.  Confessions of a Triple Shot betty has been awarded the Gold Moody Seal Of Approval!
